EXPERIMENTAL AND NUMERICAL STUDY OF FRICTION STIR SPOT WELDING FOR 2024 ALUMINUM PLATES

Friction stir spot welding (FSSW) is a relatively new process that may have significant advantages compared to the fusion processes as follows joining of conventionally non-fusion weldable alloys, reduced distortion and improved mechanical properties alloys joints due pure solidstate metals. In this paper, three-dimensional model based on finite element analysis used study thermal history in spot-welding aluminum alloy 2024. The take place thermomechanical property welded evolution results with numerical at measured point friction stirred weld good matching, then prediction temperature from numericalmodel plates acceptable.The experimental measuring shear force show there agreement increase rotational speed tool force.
